Recreation Programs

Recreation Calendar

The Veazie Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of programs to the community throughout the year. The program holds a family dance in February, a Spring Extravaganza and a Halloween Carnival in the fall. The Parks and Recreation Department offers youth sport leagues that include soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, and T-ball/Baseball in the spring. Open gym is available in the winter for middle school and high school age children. Adult leagues programs are available for men and women to play basketball and volleyball in the winter and co-ed softball in the summer. The Recreation Department calls the numbers for the seniors on Bingo night and they set up the tables and chairs for their dinners.

During the summer the program is designed for the working and active parents as an alternative to childcare needs at an affordable price. The Day Recreation Program is for girls and boys entering grades 1 through 6. This program takes place at the Veazie Community School and this year runs from July 1, 2002 through August 23, 2002. A structured daily schedule includes arts and crafts, games, playground time, sports, and weekly field trips. There are also some special events and activities throughout the summer.

Once school starts in the fall, the After School Program for grades K-5 begins. The program runs from 2:30-5:30. The staff provides assistance with homework if needed as well as offering an afternoon of games, arts and crafts, and sports.
