JUNE 13TH MUNICIPAL ELECTION Nomination Papers Available
The Town of Veazie will be holding the annual Town Meeting and State Special Referendum Election on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Nomination papers for municipal vacancies will be available at the Veazie Town Office on Friday, March 24th and can be picked up during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Vacancies include two positions on the Town Council which will be three year terms, a School Committee member for a three year term and a Sewer District Trustee for a three year term. To be qualified for an office the State requires that the candidate must be a citizen of the United States, a Maine State resident and at least 18 years old. In addition to the State requirements, the Town of Veazie requires the following: elected officials and/or candidates for the Town Council and
School Committee must be registered voters and shall reside in the Town of Veazie during their term of office. Nomination papers must contain signatures of no less than 25 registered Veazie voters and no more than 100. The filing deadline for nomination papers is by the close of business on Monday, May 1st.
